Nu-Trek has a strong expertise in custom instrumentation for pulsed radiation sources. Diagnostics that have been built for previous customers include Fluence, Flux, Dose, Dose Rate, and Voltage Monitors as well as Spectrographs and Spectrometers. Nu-Trek also has designs for Calorimeters, XRDs, GaAs PCDs, and Bolometers that are used in many of the diagnostics. Si PIN diodes and other commercial detectors may also be used in Nu-Trek instruments. Nu-Trek also has a strong capability in the area of ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) design. An excellent example of our capability in this area is the Nuclear Event Detector, Nu-Det, which is 1/15 the industry standard. Nu-Det combines a sensor, electronics, and a calibration function all on one chip.

We have had several contracts to develop GaAs PCDs and now have 4 base-line models that meet a broad range of needs. Spectral range covered is between 0.1 keV and several MeV. Time response varies by model and is typically in the 30 ps -1 ns range. GaAs PCDs for gammas in neutron reactors were designed to operate at high neutron fluxes and are not as fast. The GaAs PCDs have already been tested in over 10 different applications and have been well received.
